Egyptian National Drug Formulary - Respiratory 2026 (salbutamol monograph): "Oral inhalation, one inhalation (100 mcg) or two inhalations up to 4 times a day for persistent symptoms", metered dose inhaler 0.1 mg/dose; children under 12 years the same, maximum 800 micrograms daily. GINA 2023 is not held in this corpus.

Why

Short-acting beta-2 agonist bronchodilator for immediate relief of work-related bronchospasm; removal from the causative workplace agent remains the key intervention, this is rescue symptom control.

Cautions
  • Complete and early removal from exposure to the workplace sensitizing agent is the key intervention.
  • Overuse (>2 canisters/year) indicates inadequate controller therapy and increased exacerbation risk.

Egyptian National Drug Formulary - Respiratory 2026 (beclomethasone dipropionate monograph), oral inhalation: adults "The usual starting dose is 200 mcg twice daily" and "Severe asthma 400 - 800 mcg/ day in two divided doses"; children "The usual starting dose is 100 micrograms twice daily. Depending on the severity of asthma, the daily dose may be increased up to 400 micrograms administered in two to four divided doses". GINA 2023 is not held in this corpus.

Cautions
