Cleaning and debridement carry the tetanus source's own instruction that prophylaxis is given in conjunction with them, not instead of them. Caution Classify the wound before deciding tetanus cover. The source's split is low risk (clean and minor) versus high risk (contaminated, puncture, avulsions, or resulting from missiles, crushing, burns, animal or human bites, or frostbite).
